Earlier versions of FreeBSD (5.4) came with PERL support preinstalled. However with FreeBSD 6.x, PERL support must be installed prior to configuration.
Run the following commands..
sysinstall
configure
packages
CD/DVD
Down arrow to Perl5 and press Enter
Use spacebar to select perl-5.8.8 - OK
Tab to Install - OK
X to exit - OK
X to exit the installer
You may now continue with the PERL Configuration..
